Mom got her second dose of Pfizer on the second of the month. You might remember that she had a particularly bad response to the first dose and had a fever for a week. I was worried that because her first reaction was so severe, that the second one would be even worse. After all, that's how it seems to have gone for most people including me.
The paperwork they get you to sign wants to know if you had a negative reaction to the first dose. To me, that sounds like they might have concerns about administering a second one if the first went badly, and might refuse to give one. However, when Mom told the physician about her first reaction, he was apparently really impressed by it. Said she had a really good immune system.
That kind of reminds me of when I was a teenager and went to a drop-in clinic because of a sore throat. When the woman went to swab me, I gagged, and she enthusiastically responded "Nice gag reflex!" I was like "That's nice?"
Oddly, despite having the worst reaction the first time around, Mom had absolutely no reaction from her second dose.
My brother got his second dose on the seventh. He had a mild fever the next day and some discomfort, similar to me.
In other news, I've been promoted to the full-time position at work, moving from the title In-House Facilitator to Community Facilitator, and from 25 hours a week to 35. This has happened before on a temporary basis, but this time it's permanent.
Also, I've been accepted back into University part-time. I'm just taking one course at a time for now. I'm already halfway to getting my degree and if I do a course per semester it will take me about three years to get all my credits.
Me and Lee-Anne went to Brampton for her parents' 40th anniversary celebration. As it turns out, my old roommate lives just down the street from them so we visited him while we were out there. You might remember, he was the guy who suffered massive kidney failure. Well, somehow, miraculously, his kidneys have begun to recover on their own and he's been able to move off dialysis.
And finally, Lee-Anne got a job!
It's at The Working Centre, which is a local organization with a foundation in employment services, but which has branched out in a bunch of different directions. Her specific position is with their Money Matters project, supporting people with financial literacy and empowerment, helping with things like budgeting, accessing social assistance, and navigating taxes.
She was confirmed yesterday, on the day of her parents' 40th anniversary. Today was my first day as permanent Community Facilitator, and tomorrow is the first day of her new job.
Things have been pretty good!
